The Love After the Lockup RETURNS!!!
Jessica & Maurice:
Welcome back, Maurice & Jessica!
Maurice finally gets the exciting news that he is eligible to move to Las Vegas and can finally get out of California. Once he is all moved into his new grey house, Jessica drops the news that she may have a baby Compton Crip on board! (It’s going to be a blue nursery..)
Jessica took a pregnancy test, while a nervous and excited Maurice (with a fun new swirl shaved into his hair), is waiting patiently to see the results. He was thrilled once Jessica explained that 2 lines meant she was in fact expecting, and we saw him jumping for joy. (It did seem like he thought it was a girl because the test lines were pink)
The couple is super excited about the baby news, though they are slightly concerned about how they will afford to take care of a baby, since Maurice was only released back into the free world like two weeks before. Can’t wait to see them tell her parents!
Shawn & Destinie:
There must have been a pretty bad traffic jam, as Shawn is still on his way to work from last month! When we left off last semester of LAL, Shawn and Destinie had just gotten into a pretty heated fight over Shawn talking to his ex and baby mama, Kelly. The fight was so intense that Destinie actually punched him in the head, which could only have improved Shawn’s brain function.
He arrived at his job where he told his coworker/friend about the big fight, who blatantly laughed in Shawn’s face. Shawn also informed his friend that he still wanted to propose to Destinie despite their little tiff, since she is the love of his life….and also, he owes $50k if she jumps bail. His friend suggested that he should leave her alone and forget about her, as he was at the risk of losing almost everything. Meanwhile, Destinie called her sister to talk about her relationship drama, stating that she refuses to stay if she’s being lied to. The episode ended with Shawn nervously driving home to see if Destinie jumped ship or if she was waiting there with another right hook. To be continued!
Lindsey & Scott:
The Prison Princess herself is back! Lindsey and Scott are heading home from a romantic day-date to pick out a super sexy accessory for Lindsey- an ankle monitor. She was less than thrilled with the size and bulk of the ankle monitor, making pained faces as she wiggled it around on her foot trying to get it into a livable position. Scott had asked if she was able to slide it off, when Lindsey came out with “If I could do that I would’ve put it on the dog and gone to Walmart”, which could quite possibly be my new favorite quote from this show.
Scott admitted that he and his Lady of Lockdown have not been as “intimate” as he would like, and she is still pretty angry about the disheveled state of their house. He has been banished to the couch since her release, and is currently trying to think of redeemable acts to regain his spot in the bed and hopefully get a conjugal.
In the meantime, Lindsey and Scott have been working hard to get the house ready for Lindsey’s daughter, Miley Grace to come stay. I’m not exactly sure why the plan was to renovate the garage to be a bedroom for Miley Grace (did he buy a one bedroom house?!), but it seems like renovating the house is actually the perfect quarantine activity.
Mylie Grace came to visit her mom through the glass of the front door, her new current confinement, and it was a pretty sad sight. The other sad sight was Scott’s swollen lip…. Someone send Scott a benadry, stat.
Quaylon & Shavel:
It seems as though Quay-quay is having a hard time adjusting to life on the outside, so Shovel took him to have a counseling session with her lifelong pastor. Once alone, Quaylon explains that there are a lot of pressures on him that he didn’t face while locked up. Being a free man after having been inquarcerated for twelve years has been quite a change. The pastor tried to quouncel him to either be all in or all out with Shovel, since she’s been through a lot and has a young daughter. On the quar ride home, Shovel tried to ask about the counselling session but was met with a brick wall. Quaylon clammed up, acting really rude and indifferent. The couple began to fight in front of Shovel’s daughter, as their communication seemed to have been better through prison chats. Turns out it’s not so easy in the free world and he feels he just needs some time to himself, and Shovel should just “put a sweater on and chill”. (Maybe it was a thin prison issued sweater? Ya know what, it’s better to not ask questions….)
Tyrice & Chanda:
Tyrice has been calling Chanda since she left for the halfway house, without much luck. His daughter, Tyreesha (man between her and his son “Lil Ty” he sure is creative with names. Is his grandson Ty-chi?) came over to visit and find out what’s been going on. Tyrice confesses to his daughter/namesake that he has not heard from his prison boo since he sent her off on the bus with $200. His daughter feels that Chanda was obviously using him while she was in prison, though Tyrice insists that they had a real connection. Hopefully next week we will be able to hear her side of the story, and if she was ghosting him for bringing her that horribly ugly post-prison furry armed jacket.
Heather & Dylan:
When we left off last month, Heather and Dylan were about to get freaky in a car wash. The car looks great post sexy car wash from a month ago, as the couple heads home- though the word “home” is relative. Heather had a flood in her apartment two weeks before Dylan was released, so the couple will be staying with Heather’s Aunt Diane. Though it was so nice of Aunt Diane to take the couple in, it appears that Heather is extremely jealous of her oxygen masked elderly aunt. She feels that her gracious family is monopolizing too much of Dylan’s post prison time that would be better spent fawning all over her. Heather then fakes a headache to see if Dylan will follow her into the bedroom, and causes a scene. Dylan can not believe how she is acting, and those red flags that he has been ignoring of 5 years are waving brightly with pride. The couple leaves Aunt Diane’s house to head to a hotel so they can be alone (probably something they should have done in the first place). Dylan is probably starting to come up with exit strategy now, as it looks like this is just the beginning of the crazy.
