Married At First Sight, Episode 13

Brandon & Taylor:
Taylor’s new wig walks into the restaurant to have dinner with Brandon (It was nice of Taylor to come too). The couple discussed recommitting and being excited to move back in together, even sharing a bedroom again. Of course back at the apartment, Tyson steals the show, jumping in bed with Brandon. I wish he would’ve humped him again, as we could all use a good laugh in these trying times. Taylor fishes for Mr. Reid to compliment her Fashion Nova yellow dress, as she’s getting ready for bed. Hopefully Tyson snatches that wig and chews it up in the night.
In the next segment, Taylor and Mr. Reeeeid share beef jerky on the drive to see his childhood stomping grounds. Brandon takes Taylor to a basketball court where he used to play as a kid. Taylor’s edges are already out in the open, and if she goes to dunk the ball, we may finally be done with the wig once and for all.
Back at the apartment, they played a homework assignement/ card game, requiring then to compliment each other. They even kissed.
Next week’s previews look like the happy phase is short lived.


Austin & Jessica:
Jessica and Napoleon Dynamite are having date night, discussing where they would want to live after the show. Austin reveals that he has to travel a lot for work, which seemed to be news for Jessica. She seems to be harping on wanting to tell Austin that she loves him, knowing that he is just not ready to go there. Dr Viviana (who is the only one working apparently), went to see Austin and Jessica to discuss obstacles they’ve been dealing with. They go over their two issues; Austin’s traveling, and the whole saying “I love you” situation. Dr Viviana seems to push Jessica into telling Austin she loves him, eventhough he has made it clear hes not ready and leaves jessica hanging while ominous music plays in the background.
Next up, the two appeared to be sitting by the water talking about things that matter to them. Austin loves baseball, Jessica loves her grandma, whatever….they’re opening up to each other, very nice. NEXT!

Mindy & Zach:
Mindy sits down with her girl gang to discuss recommitting to everyone’s favorite soap opera villain, Zach. She explains how Zach has been spending more time with her off camera and how they even had a crappy sleepover. Then she reveals the secret Zach was withholding from her; He heard from “a friend” that Mindy’s ex boyfriend had contacted her about picking her up from the airport after the honeymoon in Panama. He of course claimed this “friend” was a mutual friend between he and Mindy’s ex, however, Mindy’s friend Shani connected the dots that this was a lie, and the friend was the infamous Lindsay.
Back at the apartment, we see Zach come in talking about how he’s happy they’re in a good place and feels like things are getting better, though Mindy is just staring at him blankly. She confronts zach about the lie, which he scrambles to come up with some kind of ambiguous statement, and fails miserably. She stayed strong, resisting the good hair, and tells him she’s done being married to him (while people on couches everywhere cheered in their pajamas). Zach, being the peach that he is, takes this as his way out and grabs his “crew: clay paste matte finish” hair product and leaves Mindy crying.
Dr Viviana comes over to rehash the Zach breakup with Mindy, and seems just as glad about it as the rest of us.
Dr V has to finish her rounds, so she stops by Zach’s place. Zach tries to downplay how much he sucks and claims “it is what it is”. Ultimately, Dr.V pointed out that Zach should have been more loyal to Mindy, instead of waxing riddles and chatting up her friend Lindsay. In my opinion, she let him off easy.
Mindy invited her friends over for a divorce party, featuring a pinata that they all secretly pretended was Zach. Good job, Mindy. Mazel tov.




Michael & Meka:
After being pushed into recommitting last week, Michael and Meka are sitting together in bed (a rare sight), discussing their finances. Meka shows Michael a spreadsheet showing her income and asks for his. Of course Michael doesn’t have a pay stub yet, because he just started working at NASA and his boss was still in space, so he shows her an offer letter. Of course the math doesn’t add up with the 2 numbers on the paper (once you do the multisplication), and Michael is at it again! Meka of course calls him out and has him write down his actually salary, which keeps changing, and ultimately gets so frustrated that she has to leave. (The experts need to come clean that they just found Michael sitting on a park bench one day and they needed a warm body for the show).
Meka switched her topiary hair for two little side buns, in honor of her meeting with Dr Viviana. Meka starts the session by stating Michael is a liar. Michael scrambles to come up with excuses for his lies, and eventually just defaults to crying. He says words that don’t make sense, he tries to blame it on being adopted, he uses the word “metriculating”……Meka moved closer to him during his sob story and claims to appreciate the vulnerability (seems like the buzz word of the episode).
Meka later sat down with Michael’s sister to get a little history and background to understand Michael better. She explains that Michael was teased as a kid and rejected by his peers, so this may be why he puts on a front trying to be this better version of what he thinks people want him to be. Meka seems to get along so much better with his sister than with him (she even called Meka out and got her to laugh!)

Katie & Derek:
Dr Viviana went to see Katie and Derek and discuss why Katie doesn’t seem to be any fun. Katie cries, and says she has no inner child, while Derek’s Peter Pan inner child offers moral support.
Derek takes Katie to his garage to see all of his childhood belongings. She read his letters to the tooth fairy, Santa, and a deep, emotional poem he wrote as a teen. He also revealed some pretty intense date ideas he has had in the past. Katie was so taken aback, and feels discouraged, which makes no sense. Their preview for next week looks intense.
