Ok.. I am going to preface this recap by saying that I knew I would watch at least the first episode of this just because. It’s undeniable that love her or hate her, Darcey has been somewhat entertaining throughout her tenure on 90 Day, even without an actual fiance. From appreciation rings, to house keys, she never did snag a man, but she did snag something better…… her own damn spinoff. I am not 100% committing to recapping this fun filled disaster weekly just yet, but I can say that I didn’t hate the first episode, and will be watching the second. Here we go…
We got to learn a little bit more information about the Silva Sisters as their brand new show opens. They really dug through the attic to find all of the most embarrassing childhood photos, which was much appreciated. It was nice to see their original faces both as babies and dweeby teenagers. The show of course had to do a montage of Darcey on 90 Day, showcasing her relationship with Jesse (featuring his top douchey moments, and her white coat NYC scene- a personal favorite). They also went over the whole Tom saga, including his greatest hits, namely “Did you put weight on”. Classic. We finally learned more about Stacey and her Alabanian Instagram model fiance, Florian. Stacey happens to be the only twin who has the qualifications to be on 90 Day Fiance or any of its divisions (being that she has an ACTUAL fiance), and now he will be coming to the US for his 90 day countdown to the wedding.
After a brief overview, the show starts with Darce and Stace in coordinating tennis outfits really sucking at tennis, explaining that they used to be Venus and Serena Silva in high school (and showing off dorky yearbook pictures while admitting they used to be called “troll dolls”). This fun activity was all just a segway into talking about how “so over Tom” Darcey is, and introducing the idea of her new Bulgarian love interest. Darcey expresses her doubts about Florian’s intentions with Stacey, as she had seen pictures online of him with another woman in a compromising position. Stacey explains why she just loves Florian and all of his desirable qualities; He still lives with his parents, never had a steady job, speaks little English, doesn’t drive… what’s not to love?!The production crew also added a fun random storyline of having Stacey go meet up with Tom, who was randomly still hanging around NYC like gross leftovers in the back of the fridge. There really didn’t seem to be any point in doing this, other than to cause a twin fight, and maybe allow Tom a little screen time so he can have a 2 for 2, fat shaming both sisters. Tom expressed he had called the meeting with Darcey’s counterpart because he wanted to apologize for the way he had acted. He also went to one therapy session and now feels qualified to counsel Darcey (by way of Stacey) about dealing with some of her baggage before entering a new relationship. Stacey listens to what he has to say, but isn’t yet sure if she will be reporting back to her sister. Kudos to Tom for scoring the screen time.
Back in Connecticut, we got to meet the twins’ father, Mike who gave us more insight into his daughter’s personalities. Of course he described them as loving and stubborn, with Darcey being much more demanding and fiesty. Darcey was chopping onions in the kitchen (mentioning she doesn’t mind if they make her cry since she cries all the time..she’s in on the joke) as she was preparing tacos for family dinner. She shows her father photos of Florian with another woman to stir up a little more drama. The twins sat down for dinner with both of their parents (who are divorced, but friends), and Darcey’s two daughters Aniko and Aspen. They made conversation, discussing such topics as Florian’s arrival, and Aniko/Aspen’s TikTok Videos. Of course Darcey and Stacey had to one up the girls by showing the family their video for the hit autotuned single “Lock your number”. (It’s only the second best song I’ve heard next to “I’ll go ‘dey’ for you Babygirl”).
Stacey skyped Florian to talk about his upcoming flight. She also privately discussed the scandalous online photos, and how she managed to get past that little bump in the road to eternal love. It also must be noted that Stacey was wearing a fun shimmery tinsel fluffy jacket during her interviews. Stace asks Darcey to borrow some clothes so she would have something new to wear when she met Florian, and you could tell that Darcey was feeling left out, as she is usually the one having to pick out a man-meeting outfit. She walked Stacey out to the car, with both twins wearing matching pink and white floor length fur coats, as she watched her drive off to JFK.Once Stacey reached the airport, she got changed into her skimpy Darcey top and 8” heels in the back of her car, in the middle of Winter (I guess she didn’t want to step on Darcey’s toes and change in the airport bathroom…). The episode ends with Darcey discussing her reservations about Florian and how the dynamic of their relationship will affect their twin-flow, while we see Stacey hopefully waiting for Florian to step out of the gate.Next week looks like we will get to meet (via Skype) Darcey’s newest ridiculous man friend, as well as see Florian in person without a filter. It’s just like watching an extended Darcey segment on 90 Day, but now with double the filler, double the fun.
