The Other Way; S2, EP 19

Jenny & Smee:

After finalizing his divorce last week, Sueme and Jenny are feeling pretty hopeful and excited about the future of their relationship. We see Someitch decorating and setting up his altar, praying that the next phase of their journey goes smoothly. Jenny is looking pretty cute with her hair in a messy bun and a coordinating shorts set from JCPenney, as her Cabana boy shuffled off to the kitchen to make her a post-prayer session breakfast. Jenny talked about the vision she had for the couples’ ring ceremony (which basically sounds like an engagement party), and the future groom-to-be expressed that he preferred to invite people who would bring the couple gifts (I think he was picturing a “Goodfellas” wedding scenario with a lot of envelopes to help with the whole paying his father back situation). Surmit-the-frog drops the news that his parents still refuse to accept an elder daughter in law, and Jenny knew it had been way too long since she cried on camera.

In the next segment, it appears that Covid had just hit India. Submit feared for their lives, as he  explained that he is diabetic, and Jenny is… well,…old. The two lovebirds seemed to be enjoying quarantine time together, and “getting to know each other very well”, which made everyone a little nauseous. But let’s get our mind out of the gutters….I’m sure they just played Parcheesi (a game they borrowed from Tim).

Deavan & Jihoon:

Jihoon has been working over time slinging “legal” broken cell phones (suuuure, Jooney) to keep the family afloat. In the meantime, things have been going so well that it appears Jihoon has cheated on his right hand with Deavan, as she had once again become pregnant. Deavan admitted that she didn’t feel that it was the right time for another baby, since the family barely has money as is and Taeyang is so tae-young, but she felt it was a blessing and started to get excited. Unfortunately things took a turn and Deavan ended up miscarrying, which was very difficult and emotional. It seemed as though the tragic event ended up bringing the couples’ relationship closer as they both healed.

Mother Jihoon was feeling very badly about the situation, and invited Deavan to have an afternoon out- just the girls. Although they can’t understand each other, they brought the handy translator with them to stir up the fun. The duo headed to a Korean toilet museum, of sorts, to check out the ancient bidets of their ancestors. Mama Jihoon really had a great time pretending she was dropping a deuce, sound effects included. It truly was a bonding experience, as Deavan admitted that she really enjoyed history and “collecting old artifacts” (which I’m pretty sure she was referring to a 90’s Tamagotchi). After running around for a while, wildly gesturing to communicate, they sat down to have a heart to heart via translator device. Mother Jihoon expressed her sympathies for the tragic loss, and praised Deavan for being “Courageous”. It seems that Mother Jihoon has taken a liking to Deavan, seeing her as a daughter in law instead of just some girl who can’t chop a carrot.

Cheesestick & Melyza:

So let me get this straight…. Tim moves to COElumBYUH to be with Milanese and that doesn’t make her smile. They spent a few days roaming the city doing fun things, and that didn’t make her smile. They consummated their relationship for the first time in a long time- not a chance of any expression. But Mama Cheesygrits lands in town and suddenly Melyza’s all “Say Cheese!!!!”????  Maybe she should just break up with him and hang out with his mom….

Anyway…. Mama Cheesertons and her sister, Karmyn with a K, landed in Colombia and were whisked away to the couples’ apartment. The storyline here is that Melyza will not be staying in the apartment with them, since she is “uncomfortable” that Mom-zerella once yelled at her for throwing things at her son during a fight and threatened to call the police. Though Tim feels like Melyza should stay in the apartment to help make things less awkward, he ultimately sides with her, thinking it was wrong of his mother to threaten Melyza, when it was clear that he cheated and it was all Jihoon’s fault.

Is anyone still listening?

Anyway….

Aunt Karmyn found the whole gang to be too boring, so she ditched them for the day, as they went to the COElumbeen market. Melyza kept claiming that Mama Cheddar made her feel uncomfortable, though the only thing I have noticed her do thus far was make typical “sight-seeing- mom” comments as she drove in the cab: “Wow look at the architecture!” “Wow! The sky’s so blue here!” “Wow, I never knew you had birds here, and they look very happy!” “Do you guys have a Walmart?” (oh wait, that was Chuck….)

The first place on the COOlumbien tour was to the traditional marketplace. I would like to note that I would choose this marketplace over all others in 90 Day history, as it seems to be focusing more on fruits and less on severed animal heads. The three Ameetos (that’s amigos + cheetos) sat down for some cerveza to discuss the tension between the two leading ladies of Cheesestick’s life. Both women agreed they loved and cared about each other, and ultimately Mama headcheese just wants them both to be happy. The most exciting part of this segment was seeing brightly colored fruit in Colombia. I said “Wow! The fruit is so beautiful here!”, because I’m wishing I was a mom on vacation too.

Ariela & Baby Daddy Baby:

Ariela is home alone with baby Avi (who is crying from being changed…. Probably because she didn’t get him to sign a form consenting to being changed), and Baby Daddy Baby is back at the grind……Bumping and grinding. Ariela is feeling very alone these days, and complains that she has no one to help her. Biniyam sends his sister “Wish”(.com), and best friend Artemis over to the house to keep her company, which Ariela still somehow complains about. She expressed to her guests that she would like her Baby Daddy to be working more of a 9-5, than a 5-9, and laying off of the butt bongos. Sister Wish pointed out that the taller Baby met his ex-girlfriend at the club, while he was out shakin’ it like a Polaroid  picture around a lot of beautiful women. You could almost see the hamsters on the wheel inside of Ariela’s head start to play the butt bongos on each other, and knew that a freakout was brewing.

In honor of Ariela’s parents FINALLY coming to town, Baby Daddy pulls out all the stops by installing a toilet seat. (How Ari has hovered post C-section is beyond me…).

Baby feels that the luxurious toilet seat will score the brownie points needed to really win over Ari’s father’s approval, since everyone knows dads love sitting on toilets. Ari gave Baby a few pointers on what to do and what not to do with her parents, and things seemed light hearted and funny…..until she switched gears, and started a conversation with Biniyam about their communication issues. She took the opportunity to discuss the fact that he doesn’t listen to her and complained about his absence. The conversation went south quickly, as Ariela admitted to searching through his phone at night looking for EVUH-DENSE (for those old school Danielle/Moohamit fans..) and was feeling like he might even be hiding something from her. She claimed to have seen many phone numbers and messages, some from women, and was beginning to question Baby’s late night activities. Biniyam maintained that he was not talking to other women, and was only ignoring Ariela because he thinks she’s a crazy person..

Though they were still fighting about communication issues (…or at least that’s what Ari said they were fighting about, Biniyam had no idea because he wasn’t listening), Baby Daddy had to throw on his denim 80’s “Thriller”-inspired jacket, as it was time to head to the airport to meet the parents. The game plan was for Ariela and the small baby to go to the hotel, while Big Baby met with her parents and brought them back to the neighboring hotel room. During the car ride though, Baby Daddy dropped the news that he had to work that night, but would be able to leave after her parents had gone to sleep. Ariela was furious, reiterating their communication issues, and informing him that this is not going to make the best impression on her father.

Biniyam found his Baby Mama-in-laws at the airport, greeting each parent with a separate bouquet of flowers. Dr Weinberg felt that Baby had “kind eyes” and seemed to like him right away. They met up with Ari and Baby Baby in the hotel lobby, and each took turns holding their new grandson for the first time. Shortly after, Baby had to leave to go to his night shift at Chippendale’s Ethiopia. Areila was left alone in the hotel room, questioning if she’s cut out for the life of an entertainer’s wife (she should just ask Baby Girl Lisa what it’s like to date the local talent…). So glad the positive gangster is in town, we’re going to need her!

The Brittany & Yazan:

Brittany is still on her way to the airport, and spouting off after her in-transit fight with Yazan. She claimed that the relationship was not worth the cost of her peace, even after she crashed Yazan’s car via text message. Meanwhile, Yazan and his dented fender explains the accident further, by incriminating himself for texting and driving; A teachable moment.

Brittany changed her mind and decided to get on her flight, as her friend Angela was already en route to Jordan to meet her there. Instead of the original idea of staying at Yazan’s apartment, Brittany decided they could turn it into a girls’ trip, and “turn up” in Jordan.

When the flight landed, a stressed but smiling Brittany (wearing a tequila shirt), strutted her stuff through the Jordanian Airport to the baggage claim, and then straight to the taxi line. She seemed to miss Yazan for a minute, but quickly remembered her last airport pickup experience where he screamed “F*ck the Brittany”, and the nostalgia quickly faded.

Despite the accident and the fight, Yazan still showed up to the airport to greet Brittany, although he did tell the cameras that he hated her (it was a hate-pickup). He stood waiting  at the gate, looking disgruntled, but somehow missed Brittany sashaying on by (even though she was being followed by a camera crew) only to finally find her while she was getting into a cab. Brittany claimed not to see Yazan at the airport (and his camera crew) though it didn’t matter anyway, since she claims the two are 100% categorically done and dusted.

This act of disrespect seemed to be the nail in the coffin for Yazan, who thinks the relationship is “impossible” (Should I hand him his “late pass” now? This may be the dumbest relationship in the history of a show primarily focusing on dumb relationships).

Brittany greeted her friend Angela at the hotel for some much needed girl time as the two popped bottles and discussed the relationship saga. Angela was very honest with Brittany, explaining that she needs to look at what Yazan has given up for her, and hear him out, instead of being so dismissive and combative. After the pep talk, Brittany decided to call Yazan on Facetime, claiming not to have seen him at the airport, and then…. Her phone died. Classic “The Brittany”.

The girls decided to make the most out of their trip, despite the Yazan drama, as they headed out on their own to the marketplace with Brittany showing off her cleavage. Angela thought the whole cleavage thing was a bad idea, while Brittany reassured her that she would also be wearing a jacket (she only failed to mention she didn’t plan to close the jacket over her exposed cleavage). As the girls strolled through the market, tasting olives, random men screamed “ Haram! “ (sin), prompting Brittany to reply back with “No, you’re Haram! Your Mama’s so haram!” Good one, Brit! Since the market was turning into a bad scene from “Homeland”, they decided to move their shame-fest to a bar (also a questionable activity). Over a bottle of rum, Brittany admitted that being in Jordan made her miss Yazan and she was reconsidering her vow of not speaking to him. Angela seemed to be #TeamYazan for some bizarre reason, and encouraged the Brittany to reach out. It looks like a Brittany/Yazan reunion will be happening next week, and I’m sure no matter how things go, Brittany will come out smiling.

Noticeably missing were Karmando, who were probably busy driving 4 hours to somewhere Kenny couldn’t pronounce to eat something that he thought was yucky.
